Brain overgrowth cases have been noted in children with ASD or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Recent studies say that accelerated brain growth happens before two years of life and hence it offers new avenues for the earlier identification and the intervention of ASD. Researchers conducted longitudinal MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging study for 30 control children and 59 children with the ASD disorder. Children were evaluated at an age of two years with the behavioral assessments and the brain measurements were then obtained from MRI. Both the MRI and behavioral evaluations were then repeated after 24 months when children were four to five years of age.
